Pleasant Cove

Pleasant Cove is a cove off the Damariscotta River, about 5 miles in from the ocean. As its name implies it is a most pleasant place. It is a very well protected cove, offering safe moorings for several boats. Historically it was a well know 'hurricane hole' used by locals when bad weather was expected. The lower, southern, end of the cove is one of the most productive clam flats in the area, actively dug year around by local clammers.

The following map shows the route to the cove from Wiscasset.
